Black beans from the iconic Kanpa company are actually black soybeans. Soft-boiled, it is an appetizer served during the Japanese New Year - it will grant you happiness and a long life. It is exceptionally sweet, with a dry, salty note. Their unique taste and quality are due to their natural cultivation in the maritime climate of the cool island of Hokkaido.
Preparing black soybeans is easy but requires patience. Dry grains should be soaked in water overnight, then boiled in fresh water for 3-4 hours until tender.
